Basilea Pharmaceutica China Ltd. (BPC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Basilea Pharmaceutica AG. (a Swiss public company), is located in the Haimen Technological Development Zone, ninety minutes north of Shanghai. BPC was founded in 2002 and is one of the first foreign invested biotech companies in China. Operating in an innovative R&D environment, the company relies on highly qualified, well trained and experienced professionals as well as a state-of-the-art scientific and technical infrastructure. BPC focuses on the chemical synthesis of complex molecules, analytical development and process research and development. The company is involved in key research and development projects of Basilea and has the ability to provide a range of contract research services (chemical synthesis and analytics) to third parties.

Since its foundation, BPC has been successfully involved in fee-for-service projects with international pharmaceutical companies. The company has been repeatedly recognized for its sustained operational excellence. BPC was granted the “A” class rating for safety operation by the local government and received the "Best Safety Performance" award as well as the "Best Employer" award from the local government. BPC operates a quality management system, which is compliant with ISO 9001 requirements and which has been successfully audited on a regular basis by the British Standards Institute (BSI). In addition, BPC operates an environment management system and was granted the ISO14001 certificate by BSI in 2013.

BPC has 3000m2 of chemistry lab space and 800m2 of analytical lab space that meet international safety standards and are equipped with state-of-the-art analytical instruments, such as nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometer. The company successfully attracts and retains high-tech talents thanks to its lean and flexible organization and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The research team comprises more than 60 scientists with experience in international pharmaceutical and biotechnology R&D projects.
